By Sam Grainger, Director at Camp Latgawa
Willie Nelson once said, “When I started counting my blessings, my whole life turned around.” As I reflect on gratitude, so many blessings come to mind, and I would like to share with you some of the people and things I am grateful for.
I am grateful for this beautiful place, Camp Latgawa.
For the saints who have gone before us that worked so hard to build this place, including but not limited to: the Knotts Family, Anne Gorby, Dolph Mills;
the congregations of First UMC Medford, First UMC Ashland, Newman UMC, and Klamath Falls UMC, who have nurtured and supported the ministry of Camp Latgawa;
my colleagues and partners in ministry who have supported and advised me;
the countless volunteers who have given their time to Camp Latgawa over the years; and
my amazing wife Samantha who has worked side by side with me over the last 3 years at Camp Latgawa.
This is of course not an exhaustive list of the people and groups that I want to express my gratitude to. I could write for hours and still neglect to include everyone that I give thanks for. Please know that if you have supported Camp and Retreat ministries in any way, as a camper or guest, volunteer, staff, or donor I want to extend my deepest gratitude. I would also invite you to share your gratitude. If you have a memory of a specific person or event that has blessed and shaped Camp Latgawa, camping ministries, or your own life through camp, we want to celebrate that with you. I do believe that by sharing and expressing our gratitude toward others our lives will improve, so thank you!
